Customizing and restoring vintage vehicles can be a challenging task due to the scarcity and unavailability of parts. However, laser scanning classic automobiles can help to obtain modernized digital data of the original components.

Laser Scanning is the first step in any aerodynamic development project – especially for motorsports. For this project we were tasked to perform a full exterior body laser scan of the classic, iconic Nissan 350Z.

We were asked to perform a 3D laser scan of the interior of a Nissan 350Z dashboard, specifically the central dash area. The scanned information will later be used to design and develop a new interior trim piece and custom plastics.
