3D Laser Scanning Subaru Engine Block EJ25

We were tasked to perform a full 3D laser scan of the Subaru EJ25 engine block for research and development purposes. Both halves of the engine block were scanned from all directions, allowing us to capture all the intricate details inside and out. The data, accurate to 40 microns (1.5 thou), is perfectly suitable for precision reverse-engineering and development.

3D Laser Scanning Kawasaki Ninja Gas Tank

This project was to perform a laser scan on a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle gas tank and re-surface the general geometry (reverse-engineering). The gas tank was braced onto a wooden frame for convenience, target stickers were placed across the tank, and the scan was completed at 2mm resolution (sufficient for this project). Below we have a screenshot showcasing the step-by-step process of how the scanned tank, from mesh format, is taken into NURBS modeling and reverse-engineered.

3D Laser Scanning Honda Ruckus

The objective of this scanning session was to scan various Honda Ruckus components and parts. The highly accurate scanned data would later be used for reverse-engineering and product development. The parts that were scanned ranged from exterior panels and surfaces, to engine and mechanical components, to frames and covers. By utilizing a portable 3D laser scanner, we were able to acquire the intricate edges and details on the mechanical parts as well as the mounting points and dimensional shapes.

3D Laser Scanning 2015 Subaru WRX Dashboard Interior

For this project we were asked to perform a laser scan of the lower center console of the 2015 Subaru WRX and STI. The resolution of the scan was detailed enough to capture the textured surfaces of the OEM dashboard. Areas that were not needed were masked off in tape.

3D Laser Scanning 2014 Subaru WRX Dashboard Interior

For this project we were asked to perform a laser scan of the center console area on the upper dashboard of the 2014 Subaru WRX. The resolution of the scan was detailed enough to capture the textured surfaces of the OEM dashboard. Areas that were not needed (i.e. media unit and clock) were masked off in tape.

For this project we were tasked to perform a full scan of the Subaru WRX race car. The highly accurate scanned data can later be used for product development (new designs), archiving-purposes, or analysis (CFD, FEA, etc.).

This project was to laser scan the interior dashboard center console area of a Subaru Impreza. The data was later used for product development purposes, specifically to design new, replacement plastic trim pieces. By utilizing laser scanning, all the intricate details and measurements are captured efficiently.
